Traffic
Tradewinds has a legal right to use Old Mamalahoa Highway for commercial traffic. We believe, however, that it is better for the community to route commercial traffic, including employee buses, to currently existing private roads that directly enter the mill site from private land. We will also use cane haul roads for truck traffic to the extent feasible to reduce Highway 19 traffic.
Public highways must be kept clean and safe from hazards such as mud and/or rocks on the road. Tradewinds will do its part by requiring its truckers entering public roads to keep their vehicles clean of mud and loose rocks.
We will follow three practices to keep the highways clear:
- Trucks will operate on rocked or paved roads, not dirt;
- If trucks accumulate mud which would fall off on the highway, they will be pressure washed before entering public roads; and
- If rocks or mud do somehow get carried onto the highways, Tradewinds will accept responsibility for prompt cleanup.
